West Allis, WI- Organizers of the MKE Street Drags were notified by the Wisconsin State Fair Park that the opening event of 2020 on May 19 will be unable to be contested. Wisconsin State Fair Park, and more specifically the Exposition Center, has been selected as an Alternate Care Facility during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Due to this, the season opening event will now take place on Saturday night, June 13.
Following the Saturday night event, being held in conjunction with a weekend of racing activity on ‘America’s Legendary Oval’, the Street Drag events will return to their familiar Tuesday Night time slot on July 21, August 25 and September 15.
Averaging well over 200 entries in twenty brackets last season, including a record 318 bracket entries last September, the Milwaukee Mile Street Drags continued to be the ‘Can’t Miss Events’ of the summer. Those large counts coupled with nearly 100 Shine ‘N Show entries per night, brought motorsports enthusiasts from all corners together for fun. Gates will open at 5pm each night with Trial/Grudge Runs beginning at 6pm, Brackets will begin at 7pm and are expected to conclude each night by 10pm. Adult admission is $12, ages 11 and under are $6 with no charge for parking. Bracket entries are $15 each, there is no cost to enter in the Shine ‘N Show Contest, the top cars will be paraded down the Milwaukee Mile with the winner chosen by fan applause each night at approximately 8:30pm.
